When I hit my 30s, I realized that I had two specific looks. I had my classic, tribute to retro, polished look and my trendy, fun, quirky style. Both of these styles give a fashion nod to my two fashion icons. One is from the past and one is current.

Elizabeth Taylor is my “past” style icon. First off, I love her signature makeup looks. In particular, I love her black, winged eyeliner with pink lipstick. I feel this is a flattering look on us brunette girls. My favorite eyeliner is the liquid, boot black, liner from MAC and my favorite pink lipsticks come from the drugstore brand, Milani.

Elizabeth Taylor also had a way of pairing a simple fitted dress in a single color with some dramatic earrings. This is my go-to date night look, wedding guest look, and Sunday best look.

Alyson Haley is my “current” style icon. She has a gorgeous Instagram feed that you have to scroll through. Her style is on point! She knows how to pair colors, layer pieces, and just look effortlessly stunning. The mix of trendy pieces with classics is what speaks to me. Here are a few photos if you are not familiar with her.

One random thing that I noticed is that she always pairs her oversized watch with a bracelet. I don’t know why I love this so much, but I have gotten to where I can’t wear my watch without a bracelet with it. She is very influential!!! :o) I am linking some similar bracelets below.

  1. I am a huge fan of Old Hollywood and love Elizabeth Taylor’s look. It’s very typical, but the whole of Audrey Hepburn’s wardrobe in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, is amazing to me. I’m also a fan of Coco Chanel’s style and really enjoyed reading a biography on her.
I’m not sure who my modern style icon is. I like anything classic though and the very chic Parisian style. x
